But it isn’t that easy, as the prize would be awarded on presentation, creativity and taste you have to do more than just bake a cake. Number Maze – The New Sudoku ?

Number_maze

Yesterday I received an email from Mike Reilly who invents puzzles. The latest one is called Number Maze and can be found via his website at a special Number Maze website. As Mike calls it, Number Maze is a Sudoku-like maze puzzle that uses the number pattern from a clock face, one through twelve.

Players must link these numbers in either direction – clockwise or counter clockwise – through the maze to solve the puzzle according to the rules.

RULES 1. Place any number, from 1 to 12, in each square of the [Read More...]

Play Slitherlink Online

Slitherlink_luke_harrison

Via Jay Is Games I found a link to a Flash version of Slitherlink (Slitherlink is also known as Loop The Loop, Fences and Dotty Dilemma).

A long time ago I wrote already about one of my favorite puzzles and how I got my first Slitherlink puzzle book in Japanese and even without any write instructions (ok in Japanese) and some visual instructions I managed to solve the puzzles.

The rules of Slitherlink are simple: 1. Connect dots with vertical / horizontal line and make ONE loop. 2. Numbers are the hints to know how many [Read More...]

Lego Mindstorm Rubik’s Cube Solver

Lego-rubik-utopy-blog

Daniele Benedettelli is back again with his latest Lego Mindstorm Rubik’s Cube Solver called LRU (Lego Rubik Utopy). Since the previous version of his Rubik’s Cube solver things have changed significantly.

Danny studied the situation and improved by having now a more powerful hardware and self-made software that solves the cube optimally (the solution, if found, is the shortest possible). You can notice that LRU quite inspired by JP Brown’s robot. Even if it misses an arm, it can grab, rotate the cube and a single face.

The overall impression is about a [Read More...]

Crystal Clear is a simple but very addictive flash puzzle game.

All you have to do is match five crystals of one color to clear them. If you match more crystals you will get more points You can do this by clicking with your mouse on the crystal you want to move and the location where you want to move it to.

The only thing is that there need to be a free path for the crystal to move from the begin to the end location and each click will add more crystals to the grid. Watch out for crystals [Read More...]

Solve Rubik’s Cube with your Webcam

Rubiks12

Via YouTube I found a how to solve Rubik’s cube video by using your webcam.

A C++ application called CVRubik.exe is used that solves a 3×3 Rubik’s cube. It uses a webcam to “look” at a Rubik’s cube and generate a step by step solution in 3D graphics on your computer. CV Rubik draws on knowledge from different fields of computer science such as Computer Vision, Artificial Intelligence and 3D Graphics.

The following steps are performed by the program at runtime: 1. The user holds a scrambled 3×3 Rubik’s Cube in front of the [Read More...]

Aquaria – Escape The Room

Aquaria

Aquaria is another, so called, locked room puzzle game. The graphics are great, the music is lovely only sometimes it is very difficult to solve the puzzles, I wonder if this is while they are translated form Japanese?

The plot of Aquaria is fairly straightforward. You have been searching for the ancient ruins of an underground civilization called Aquaria, and one day you find an ancient relic that teleports you down there, and you must unlock the mysteries of the ruins.

only downside is that the cursor does not change shape or color to tell you when something is clickable [Read More...]
