Botanicula is a computer game that can be played on PC, Mac, Linux, iOS and Android. It is one of those puzzle games that you would never think is a puzzle game. In a nutshell it is 5 characters exploring their surroundings. They try to survive and save the environment around them as it is being over run by evil black creatures. You will have to solve many a puzzle to get through this game, some which do not seem like puzzles at all but just a continuation of the storyline.
The graphics in this game are absolutely stunning. The characters don’t really look like they would win an award for being the best drawn characters but that doesn’t mean that they aren’t fun to look at. It was a joy to see what they would do next when you click on objects in the environment. I laughed out loud numerous times during the game. The background is interactive and does a great job of keeping you going in the game.
The music in this game is of the highest quality as well. Most games of the puzzle variety that I have played, I would much rather turn of the music so that I don’t have to hear what they think is a good soundtrack. In this game they music only made the game that much more enjoyable. I even played the soundtrack at work just to continue hearing the music. Not too often I will do that for a game.
The puzzles and the playability of the game are what make it fun. The interactive design team must be given an award for what they have done. Completely thinking outside the box is what this company does best. You will be amazed at just how well everything works and how much fun it is to play.
My only complaint is that it was not long enough. I could have played another year in this environment and not gotten bored.
I hope that you will enjoy the game as much as I did. Give the demo a try at there site botanicula.net. The full version costs $10 but its hardly enough for what you get. I think you will enjoy it. Happy puzzling.
