Weblog > Trick Lock #3
The Trick Lock #3 is an extremely well constructed heavy Puzzle Lock. Like some other similar Puzzle Locks, there is a “secret” to opening it. It then is very simple —when you know how. That makes it a very good puzzle to carry around and bring out as a conversation piece, even for people who never attempt to solve puzzles. One thing you can say about it is that it is not intimidating, and just about anyone will “give it a try”. That makes this a great puzzle to bring out as opposed to a very complicated, difficult puzzle requiring several moves to solve. That kind of puzzle when brought out among puzzle novices, is soon tossed aside as “too hard for me”.
When I first tried to open this lock, I was quickly stumped. I put it aside a couple of times, and all of a sudden it opened as I tried everything I could think of. I’d been trying several things and couldn’t remember what I had done; locked it, and it took several minutes to “re-learn the secret”.
Now, as to the confusion I mentioned in my title.
My lock is the same as the first picture shown here. It has the name CHAMPION on the face near the top. It has a brass colored “T” with 2 key slots at right angles to one another, and the number 12.Also, on the face, are 4 small hearts. There are also 4 copper colored fasteners on the face holding it together, It comes with 2 keys. The package it came in shows 5 different locks, numbered #1,#2,#3,#4,and #5,none of which have 2 key slots, The package carries the name Puzzle Master and shows the puzzle was Made in India. There is also another picture here for this lock that is totally different.
I checked the Puzzle Master site and the puzzle shown there, is like I described; but on requesting a solution, it gives a picture and a solution that is different.
I am very happy with this puzzle, but just thought I would clear some of this confusion.
