Cubic Hourglasses is a concept by Bram Cohen. The puzzle has four hourglass-shaped pieces, and a three-quarter-circle piece. The object is to get the latter piece from the top to the bottom. The pieces do not only slide like in a sliding block puzzle. They also turn, pivot and skew. This is a successful prototype with a rugged cage.
This toy features sliding piece puzzles inside of a 2x2x3 cage. There are 4 cubic hourglasses shaped objects inside the cage and they move up and down. It is interesting that because of the object’s rounded shape, you can turn it smoothly. There is another object that can be found on the top of the cage, it is a rounded and L-shaped piece that you can turn around. It has a red sticker on top and orange sticker at the bottom. You can rotate this object in order to move it. It would be great to complete the objective of this puzzle with excellent manipulation of space inside the cage. Make sure to also move the L-shaped objects in a corkscrew motion. Make it an aim to put the L-shaped object all the way to the top and to the bottom.
