About the Sentinel of the Marsh

This Sentinel of the Marsh or also referred to as the Labrador retriever is a pyrography artwork by Julie Bender. A pyrography refers to the art of drawing with fire. This artwork is produced with maple wood and measures 24 x 20 inches. This art piece was featured on the back cover of Gray’s Sporting Journal’s July 2013 issue.

About the Artist

Julie Bender is a visual artist from Colorado. She has a fascination with drawings inspired by nature and animals. Bender worked as a computer artist and project manager in web and software development firms.

She has a passion for pyrography and always shows accuracy in her works. Bender loves creating expressive portraits of her animal subjects. She considers herself as a self-taught master of pyrography.
