Mirror Puzzle

Mirror PuzzlePuzzles can be a lot of fun to assemble, but after all the excitement of putting it together, the picture is always the same. Enter the Mirror Puzzle: Instead of an unchanging static image, the Mirror Puzzle displays an image of whatever happens to be reflected at the moment – use it as a centerpiece or experiment with thousands of other possibilities. Next to that I also think it is much more difficult to put this puzzle together because any reference is missing. Mirror Puzzle comes with a Lucite top (acrylic glass) and base, is designed by Tobias Wong and made in New York. Mirror Puzzle is available at UncommonGoods for US$ 200.00.

Money Maze Puzzle

Money Maze PuzzleMoney Maze is one of the most infuriatingly addictive puzzles in history according to Fire Box. Money maze looks a bit like a transparent Borg starship and is a puzzle with a highly amusing twist. The idea is to put money, tickets, gift vouchers or any other paper-based pressie inside and laugh as recipients go nuts trying to get at their gift.
They are not telling you how to solve Money Maze but it involves manoeuvering a steel ball through a maze by tilting the cube. If you think that sounds easy, it is not.
Indeed, putting pressies inside Money Maze is infinitely more amusing than slipping a few notes in a birthday card.
Flummoxed recipients might be tempted to take the direct approach and smash Money Maze to smithereens with a heavy object. But then they'd be unable to use it again. And that would be a shame because as well as being a brilliant way to give money, tokens and tickets.
Via and available at Firebox and will cost you £11.95.

Lunch Time - Rube Goldberg Machine

Rube Goldberg MachineAt su.doku.es they wrote an article about a online Rube Goldberg Puzzle called Lunch Time. Rube is famous for his special designed machines and therefor they are also known as Rube Goldberg Machines. A Rube Goldberg machine or device is any exceedingly complex apparatus that performs a very simple task in a very indirect and convoluted way. Rube devised such pataphysical devices. The best examples of his machines have an anticipation factor: the fact that something so wacky is happening can only be topped by it happening in a suspenseful manner.
If you want to operate a Rube Goldberg Machine you can solve it online for free. Object of this Rube Goldberg Machine called Lunch Time is to take away the hamburger with Coke at the right bottom.

Win US$ 2 Million with Eternity II Puzzle

Eternity II PuzzleEternity Puzzle is Back This Summer With a US$2 Million Prize for the First Person to Find a Solution. One of the fastest selling puzzles of all time is making its long awaited comeback on the 28th July 2007 with a fantastic US$2 million prize on offer to the first person who correctly completes the 256 piece puzzle. Eternity II will be launched at London Toy Fair on the 24th January by Neil and Christine Hamilton, the celebrity couple who were famously declared bankrupt in 2001. At the event, the computer containing a solution to Eternity II will be destroyed in front of the gathering crowds by the UK's finalist in World's Strongest Man competition.

Eternity II is the follow up to Eternity I which captured the imagination of thousands of people across Europe 8 years ago when it was launched. A cheque for GBP1 million was handed over to a student who successfully solved the puzzle in just eighteen months. Eternity II has been developed by the original inventor, Christopher Monckton, a previous aide to Margaret Thatcher.

Unlike most puzzles, which only have one correct way of completing the final solution, there are thousands of ways that Eternity II can be solved to win the US$2 million prize. The puzzle consists of 256 square pieces that are bordered by colored patterns which must be correctly aligned to find a solution.

Eternity II will appeal to males and females of all ages - from those that regularly enjoy the challenge of puzzle games to those that will be tempted to have a go and try to win the US$2million!

Christopher Monckton: "Anyone of any age or academic ability could solve Eternity II - it could be a 5 year old or a 90 year old grandmother."

Eternity II will be available as a range of products including the main puzzle with a guide retail price of GBP34.99 (256 pieces) and two further 'Clue' puzzles with guide retail prices of GBP19.99 (72 pieces) and GBP9.99 (36 pieces). Solving the Clue puzzles will reveal locations of key pieces in the main puzzle to help people take one step closer to winning the US$2million prize!

Christopher Monckton: "The buzz has already started amongst the thousands of people that tried their hand at Eternity I and are raring to go at Eternity II. I think we will see a lot of people using the internet to collaborate together to try and share the US$2 million!!"

The launch of Eternity II is set to be one of the biggest and most exciting consumer product launches of 2007 with lots of public events planned across the world. The sales are expected to blow away the first Eternity due to the huge existing fan base and the fun opportunity to try and make a fortune.

Rolley Ball - Flash Puzzle Game

Rolley Ball - Flash Puzzle GameI think almost twenty years ago I got a wooden puzzle in which you had to move a metal ball from point a to b through a 2D maze. You could move the ball by controlling a frame by two axis. If you would like to solve such a puzzle online but now by controlling the frame by your mouse of arrow-keys. The object of Rolley Ball is to roll the ball off of the board. The ball can pass through walls of the same color, but some walls are deadly depending on the color of your ball. Avoid yellow walls when your ball is red, blue when your ball is yellow, and red when your ball is blue. Hit walls hard to explode the dots for points in your proximity. In bonus levels, try to get all of the dots before exiting the board. The game can be played with your mouse or arrow keys. Play Rolley Ball online at Dab On TV.

Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords

Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the WarlordsPuzzle Quest challenges is a classic 'three-of-a-kind' puzzle action with a twist or two
for both DS and PSP. It's developed and published by D3Publisher and is a puzzle/role play/strategy game.
The game dynamic may indeed be rooted in tradition, but it also incorporates strategy and roleplaying elements to potentially give this effort considerably more depth, as well as a welcome distinguishing feature. As such, players are encouraged to create, customize and ultimately develop their hero's abilities, magical arsenal and creature companions in order to save the land of Etheria from the evil Lord Bane.
Progress is achieved through turn-based, head-to-head battles within a match-three game world, and your performance can be substantially boosted by using items received from completing quests or bought at the local friendly shop – something to call upon when facing powerful foes should you subsequently find yourself running low on strategic nous (though correctly using, say, magic potions at the appropriate time will still require a certain tactical approach, of course).
Three game modes are promised, ranging from a 150-quest single player option pitting you against the AI, an Instant Action alternative for those wishing to play continuous battles in order to level-up characters without having to embark on quests, and multi player wireless encounters.
Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords is currently scheduled to appear on both PSP and DS on March 16th 2007. Full story at Pocket Gamer.

Light up all empty squares by placing light bulbs according to the following rules:
- A number indicates how may light bulbs are next to it, vertically and horizontally
- Each light bulb illuminates all unblocked squares in its row and column
- Every square must be illuminated
- One light bulb must never illuminate by another light bulb
- When all rooms are illuminated, it's finished

Explode! - Mobile Puzzle Game

Explode! If the sign of an innovative game is that it all makes sense when you play it, Explode! could well be something really different. Because to be quite honest, we're not quite sure from the press release and screen shots how it works at all.
That's the problem with new ideas, of course. Cynics say stuff like, "A bulb of light, Mr Edison? Who in the world needs that when they can simply light a candle?" And indeed, until we play Explode! we won't know if it's the best new thing since 7 Wonders, or the worst thing since the reinvention of stuck together bread.
From what we can work out, Explode! mixes up bubbles and explosions. In time-honored puzzle game fashion, you need to group similarly colored bubbles together, and then blow them up with a spinning laser beam.
Actually it doesn't sound too unfathomable when you put it like that, especially since we're promised simple one-thumb control.
But where does the 'great physics' that apparently enables you to predict bubble movement fit in? And how will the nine special unlockable bubbles mix things up?
Turning to more mundane matters, there are four modes promised – the 12-level Main mode, plus Puzzle, Time Attack and Freestyle modes – and also four graphical and musical themes to unlock. It's rare to see music mentioned at all in mobile game press releases, so lets hope Explode!'s multi-channel rock, jazz, chill-out, and drum'n'bass tunes hit the spot.

Developer Tequila Mobile assures us Explode! is due to be released by a major publisher soon, so keep an eye out for it on a portal near you – and let us know if you think it's a big bang, or a little whimper (via pocketgamer)

Mobile Rubik's Bloxx Twister

Rubik's Bloxx TwisterHave you ever solved a Rubik's Cube puzzle? Thought not. Bet you know someone who has, though, right? Everybody seems to when you mention the Rubik's Cube, the cultural gimmick / icon of the 1980's.
Thankfully it's not an issue that you're likely to encounter with Rubik's Bloxx Twister, which bears a closer resemblance to classic puzzlers like Tetris or Lumines than it does its cuboid forebear.
Set in what is now a familiar collection of screen furniture, the playing area slowly fills with coloured blocks. But rather than dropping in from the top of the screen, a la Tetris, or from the side like Lumines, they pop up from underneath.
The rate at which each new row emerges is determined by your progress through the game. The higher the level you reach, the faster they appear.
By now it'll no doubt be apparent to you that the object of the game is to clear all of these blocks. In Rubik's Bloxx Twister this involves making rows or columns of three blocks of the same colour.
This is achieved by positioning the yellow cursor – precisely two blocks wide – over two blocks of your choosing, and then flipping them. So, if a red block was on the left and a white one on the right of the cursor, their positions would be reversed.
It sounds like a simple concept, certainly no more complicated than any of the games it shares so many of its traits with. But in play it's a rather different experience, and it'll take you a good 15 minutes or so before you're completely at ease with it, which is quite some time for a mobile game.
Since you can only flip blocks horizontally – there's no way to make the cursor stand up on one end – you start off being flummoxed and the first level seems way too hard. The tutorial that takes you through the basic controls and rules of the game doesn't help at all, either. But once things fall into place, Rubik's Bloxx Twister takes off.
Scanning your collection of blocks for potential matches and looking for chain reactions, where the blocks disappearing from your first match act as the catalyst for another match, becomes a satisfying challenge.
Two power-ups add further interest. Matching three bomb blocks will cause them to detonate, taking the surrounding ordinary blocks with them. Special Rubik's blocks assist you even further. Contained within a coloured block, when matched with two other ordinary coloured blocks it'll make all the blocks of that colour in the playing area disappear, too.
Yet Rubik's Bloxx Twister still feels like a game that needs more substance. With only one playing mode, you just keep going through the levels until the blocks reach the top of the screen and it's game over. There are no new power-ups, no new colours to add to the existing collection and little, really, as a goal to work towards.
It's a shame because the game isn't bad to play and genuinely provides a different experience, at least early on. But once you've got the tactics down, there's not really enough to keep you coming back for more.
So while you might get the same answer when you ask someone if they've solved Rubik's Bloxx Twister as you would when you ask if they've finished the Rubik's Cube, you won't find anyone who knows someone who has. More information about Rubik's Bloxx Twister at source Mobile Review

Gateway Puzzle Game

GatewayTo start the new year I found a simple point and click puzzle game called Gateway and is developed by Anders Gustafsson.

The object of this Flash Puzzle game is to escape from seven different rooms by solving simple puzzles. The first level turns out to be a tutorial though the game control is very easy to understand.

The graphics are just brilliant, but the puzzles are a bit to easy. Gateway can be found at Mousebreaker dot com. Happy puzzling!
