A few weeks ago I post an article about a puzzle on a beer coaster called Bolleke Puzzle. Luckely I found two other "Bolleke" puzzle coasters. The rules are simple: Each row and column has to have the same number of solid and open circles. Next to that you are not allowed to have more than the same type of "Bollekes" next to each other (solid and open). And as proven on Puzzlinks when there is a unique solution in each square there has to be a "Bolleke".

GROW is one of my favorite Flash puzzle games. GROW is clever and original and sometimes simple but short puzzles with a nice design and lovely music. At Eyezmaze you can find a lot of GROW puzzle games (GROW cube, GROW RPG, GROW nano and GROW ver. 1 ver. 2 and ver. 3). GROW puzzle are a series of Flash puzzle games by Eyezmaze which involve adding various items into the puzzle game world. Depending on the order of addition, previously added items will "grow" and interact with each other. To complete the game, the player must discern the correct order to finish with all the items at their 'maximum level', at which point the player is rewarded with an end-game animation. GROW nano vol.2 is a cute introduction to the Grow style of playing. The only downside is that this puzzle game is too short.

Souko is a Japanese block puzzle game. In this Klotski puzzle you have to move fruit in stead of blocks. Green apple = 1, cherries = 2, banana = 3, grapes = 4 (you need this from round four onwards). So, pressing green apple to cherries yields banana (1+2=3). But pressing cherries to apple yields cherries only. Pressing the same fruits together would cancel them. You goal is to cancel all fruits in each stage. Use the arrow keys to push fruit around in Souko, press space to restart stage.

I think everybody tried to solve some matchstick puzzles when they were young. According to wikipedia matchstick puzzles are rearrangement puzzles in which a number of matchsticks are arranged as squares, rectangles or triangles. The problem to solve is usually formulated as : move n (some specified number) matchsticks to make m (another specified number) squares (or triangles, or rectangles).

At Brailletec dot de I found a Sudoku-game for both blind and seeing people with Braille on the chips and sheets. The Sudoku board consists of an aluminium plate laminated with a magnetic foil. That way metallic parts may be fixed easily. You can put a sheet with the Sudoku task on it. The sheet will be fixed with the chip box and it is cover. The chips are made of thin metal plates, 18 mm in square, embossed with the numbers 1 to 9. The chips can be placed on the empty fields of the Sudoku sheet. Einstein puzzle is a free cross-platform open source remake of old DOS game Sherlock which was inspired by Albert Einstein's puzzle. Einstein said that only those with an intelligence quotient of 98 percentile and higher should be able to solve it. The object of the Einstein Puzzle is to open all cards in square of 6x6 cards. For this, a number of hints describing relations between card positions are given. Use them to find the correct layout. The latest release of Einstein features sound support, full internalization, Russian localization, re-engineered resource subsystem to allow custom graphics themes and in-game rules browser.

Last Saturday sitting in the pub and drinking a Bolleke (world famous in Antwerp - Belgium) I noticed a puzzle at the back of my beer coaster from brewery De Koninck. Object of the Bolleke-puzzle is to have the same number of open "bollekes" and solid "bollekes" for each row and column (Bolleke = circle). Nice puzzle but only before you start drinking "Bollekes". For people not familiar with Bollekes please have a look at the glasses they serve Bollekes in, from brewery De Konick.

Puzzles do not normally grow on trees - but this one is the exception! The proper name for the tree that the nut comes from is Xylocarpus granatum, but it is also known as the Patience Tree or the Cannonball Mangrove. It is found in East Africa and Southeast Asia, and the wood is used locally for making canoes and also for the production of charcoal. The fruit can be the size of a large orange, or even bigger, and in the middle is a woody capsule containing a number of seeds.
The number of seeds can vary apparently, with anything up to 16. However the particular interest is the fact that they interlock so beautifully. However putting the pieces back together is not so easy! Another name for this is the Monkey Puzzle Nut, or you could think of it as nature's own Rubik Cube!

Color Sudoku is inspired by the world famous japanese game, this 9x9 grid has to be filled with nine different colors instead of the usual nine numbers from 1 to 9. Color Sudoku will show you patterns and logics not easily found on regular numbered Sudoku's. If you have a Mac you can give it a try and you will see.
A continuous range of difficulty provides more control over your desired playing level. All nine colors are changeable (if you don't like any of the original ones). A fully functional, reproduction of a Rubik's Cube, hand cast in white bronze. It was cast in such a way as to have even shrinkage, but an unstable and rough surface.

After being cast in bronze, and assembled, it was treated by being buried in a mixture of dirt, various acids and salts, inside of a hand made birch box designed to keep the environment moist, but also to allow some passage of air and water, for about a year.
