Roadwork Puzzle GameRoadwork is an addictive online puzzle game which you can play at the Playray.com web site.

Object is to act as a road builder and see to it that the roadwork will be completed from the starting point on the left side of the working site to the end point on the right side of the working site. You need to think quickly, because the work must be done within a limited time frame (except for the training level). Several levels are available: training, easy, normal, hard and extreme (for registered users only). Enjoy Roadwork.

Magnets - Flash Puzzle Game

MagnetsVia Novelgames I found very nice and interesting variant of Same Game which is called Magnets.

Object is to destroy the magnets by connection three or more magnets of the same color together. But this is that you’ll need to match the poles of the magnet correctly (north and south). The longer it takes you to solve a level more magnets are blocked which will make it more difficult to connect three or more magnets of the same color. Happy Puzzling!

Arctic Quest Puzzle Game

Arctic QuestArctic Quest and Arctic Quest 2 is a Tangram based shape solving puzzle game by Alawar Games.

With a wave of his icy fingers, the Snow King unleashed a bitter frost on the tropical islands across Earth. To safeguard his empire, he built a chain of 60 puzzles meant to stop even the wisest sage from reaching his castle and breaking the spell. In Arctic Quest, you set out to solve the puzzles, each of which takes the shape of an animal or other tropical wonder. As pieces of ice fall from the sky, you grab them with your mouse, rotate them (using space) and place them on a grid within the puzzle, filling in the shape and returning warmth to the island bit by bit. If the waters that surround your once balmy home fill up with unused ice, your quest will fail. Luckily, a small fire burns on your land, allowing you to melt surplus ice. You can also earn bonuses that grant you various powers, such as the ability to smash excess ice or paint in portions of the grid.

Arctic Quest 2 brings more than new levels to the table, it also offers amazing new visuals and audio effects, a branching storyline and spectacular twists. The latter includes water elements that can fill in the empty pieces of a puzzle and fire elements that can wipe out all of your hard work! Easy to learn and fun to play, Arctic Quest 2 will please fans and newcomers alike.

Online you can play only a limited version (one hour). If you want to play the extended version you can buy and download this also via the website. Happy Puzzling

Planarity - Flash Puzzle Game

planarityFor the one who love the puzzle game Untangle I found another untangle variant called Planarity by John Tantalo.

Game play is the same, click on the little blue dots, which we call vertices, and then drag them to a new position. Try to arrange the vertices so none of the lines intersect. These lines are also called edges. When none of the lines intersect, then click on the "Check Solution" button at the right bottom. If your solution is correct, you will go to the next level.

You an also skip to another level, but as this puzzle becomes much more difficult each level it's not recommended to skip to level seven or even further. From there on it becomes almost impossible to solve this puzzle. Happy Puzzling !

Day of the Bobteds - Flash Puzzle Game

Day of the BobtedsDay of The Bobteds is one of the best online Flash puzzle games I played in months.

Day of the Bobteds is an action puzzle game Rob Allen (also known of the Hapland series). Game play is easy, place the ball(s) and destroy the Bobteds. There are eighteen levels of this ball physics puzzle to solve. Personally I think level twelve is very original as an Arkanoid variant. Happy Puzzling!

LazerBeamz - Flash Puzzle Game

Lazer BeamzLazerBeamz is a simple but nice Flash Puzzle Game by ArmorGames.

Your object is to help NASA out as they have some problems in space. Many of their orbiting satellites, shuttles and space stations have been disabled by a horrendous solar storm. They are floating adrift without power. You control a particle beam emitter that has been retrofitted to give the stranded devices a little jump start. Stranded devices pulse the color of laser they’re compatible with, so hit them with the correct colored beam to power it up. The particle emitter can’t be rotated and sometimes an asteroid is in the way . Use whatever beam splitters and reflectors you have available to hit every device in one shot. But be sure you keep all devices within the game board or they will be lost in space. All stranded devices have to be simultaneously in order to advance.

select the help devices with left mouse button so you can rotate them with the A- or D-key and move the around the game board with the S- and W-key. Press the space bar to start the particle beam emitter. Happy Puzzling!

TNT Runner - Flash Puzzle Game

TNT RunnerTNT Runner is a Flash Puzzle Game by T-Studio's for BlitzGamer.

Object is to use the Arrow keys to control the person around the cave (game board) in order to find the exit (square with a circle). Watch out for TNT and other explosions along the way. Each you make a move time the player moves their characters the timers on the TNT count down. The TNT has a blast radius and if your little person is caught in the blast radius you will die and you will have to redo the same level.

The beginning levels start very simple but later on you really have to start puzzling and define a strategy to complete each level op this lovely puzzle game. Also with this 2D game which looks like a 3D game are the controls. I still keep mixing up the arrow keys. Happy Puzzling !!!

Cork Board - Puzzle for Charity

Cork Board Charity PuzzleAt the Rusty Red Rock web site you can find an original handmade Puzzle for Charity.

This is the fourth puzzle for charity and is an actual physical object. In this case it is a cork board made of 126 wine corks, 75-year-old barn wood and oak ply board. This puzzle measures 14″ across by 17″ long (approx 36 x 43 cm) and is next to the Prize Pool Money part of the prize pool (although it will not be shipped to an address outside the Continental U.S).

Solving it will not be easy (as the competition is already open since October 2007 and I also had a look at the three previous Puzzles for Charity. If I may say so the looked not very easy to solve as the solution is not really obvious (at least for me). Happy Puzzling!

Squareblox - Puzzle Game

SquarebloxSquareblox is not only an original Flash puzzle game but also an addictive puzzle game at the News Ground website.

The object of Squareblox is simple. You'll have to try to get a ball to the exit, but you can't control the balls movement, just the obstacles in it's way.

The number of possibilities to do this are to much to explain over here, so I recommend you to read the instructions at the beginning of the game for more details. This will only take you one minute but well spend as it at least helps you to get you start to enjoy this lovely puzzle game.

I really got hooked on Squareblox! Hopefully you'll love this puzzle game as much as I do. Happy puzzling!

Untangle - Flash Puzzle Game

untangleChris Benjaminsen wrote a simple puzzle game in Flash as a test called Untangle. The current version 1.2 has just 17 levels, but will keep you puzzling for a while.

Game play is super simple: Make sure the lines does not overlap. When a line color of an overlapped line is white, when there is no overlap the color changes to gray (which helps you a lot). When all lines are untangled you move automatically to the next level. Untangle comes with a chilled soundtrack. Happy Puzzling.

Pole Star Sudoku

Pole Star SudokuAt the @nrich (enrich) webpage of maths.org you can find more than thirty different kind of Sudoku's. A lot of them are designed by Henry Kwok. One of them is called Pole Star Sudoku (also known as Duplex Difference Sudoku).

The Pole Star Sudoku is a variation of Sudoku on a standard 9x9 grid which contains a set of special clue-numbers. These are small numbers placed always on the border lines between selected pairs of neighboring cells of the grid. Each clue-number is the difference between the two numbers that should be in the neighboring cells just to the left and to the right from that clue-number.

For example, a clue-number 7 on the border line means that one of the possible answers in the cell on the left can be 9, 2, 8 or 1. If we choose 9 for the answer in the cell, it means that the answer in the cell next to it on the right is 2. If we choose the answer 2, it means that the answer on the right is 9.

In addition, there are the symbols 1> and 1< on some of the border lines. The 1> means the answer in the cell on the left is 1 greater in value than the answer in the cell on the right. Similarly, the 1< would indicate that the answer in the cell on the left is 1 less than the answer in the cell on the right.

The remaining rules are as in a standard Sudoku: the object of the puzzle is to fill in the whole 9x9 grid with numbers 1 through 9 (one number per cell) so that each horizontal line, each vertical line, and each of the nine 3x3 squares (outlined with the bold lines) must contain all the nine different numbers 1 through 9.

The maths.org website is a great source of Sudoku variants and for people who want to try different kind of Sudoku's. You can also find Sudoku's in easy printable format including the solution. Happy Puzzling!

World's Largest Crossword Puzzle

Largest Crossword PuzzleVia Puzzlinks I found the story in the Yemen Observer about a Yemeni man who may have broken the record for the world’s largest crossword puzzle. Abdul-Karim Qasem has created a crossword puzzle that has 320,500 squares and an 800,720 word clue book. The puzzle took him seven years to complete and he needed to spend two days in bed after finishing it.

Six months ago I already wrote about the record setting crossword puzzle you can buy online via Hammacher has over 91,000 squares. Still, Qasem’s puzzle shatters that record fairly handily. The new record has not yet been confirmed by Guinness. Presumably when that happens, we’ll hear more about it from other international news sources.

The CCL Game

CCL Winter Puzzle GameThe CCL Game is a really good puzzle type logic game based on an old game called "The Incredible Machine". This puzzle game is especially designed as a viral marketing technique by Kerb for CCL (a PC hardware and software online store).

Simply select one of the three products at the beginning of each level, and by using the various conveyor belts, fans and bouncy things in the toolbox on the left side of the screen, the aim is to get your chosen product across the warehouse into 'system builds'. The quicker you move the item the more points you will score and by choosing a 'CCL recommended product' you will receive bonus points. Happy puzzling.

Samsung HDTV with Sudoku

Samsung TV with SudokuVia DailyTech I found an article about an upcoming Samsung LCD HDTVs to feature games like Sudoku.

Samsung introduced at CES 2008 (Consumer Electronics Show) it's new line of Series 6 and Series 7 LCD high-definition televisions. It starts with a lot of technical data about resolution and refresh rates. With all the excitement Samsung may have forgotten to mention in its press release that its upcoming high-end LCD HDTV's will come packed with video games. Several models will come with content preloaded into the set’s built-in flash memory, some of which will be games.

Tim Baxter, executive vice president of Samsung, told the AP that simple games such as Sudoku will be bundled with televisions. Other programs potentially preloaded on the TV include artwork (for use as a digital picture frame), screen savers, fitness programs and recipes.

"If you think about the TV experience, it has historically been a lean-back experience," Baxter said, contrasting it to the "lean forward" experience of the PC. "We think there are opportunities to bring very relevant parts of that experience into the living room."

Users will also be able to add new programs and artwork by transferring them from the PC to a flash drive, which can interface with the set’s USB slot.

Furthermore, the TV’s Ethernet port can also pave the way for more content options, including news, weather, sports and stocks information supplied by USA Today in a picture-in-picture window. Samsung’s Series 6 LCD HDTV's will be available starting this March, with the Series 7 hitting in May 2007.

For me it will be just the small paper Sudoku books, to be able to solve Sudoku's anytime, anyplace, anywhere.

Hex Vex Flash Puzzle Game

Hex VexHex Vex is another Hexagon-based puzzle game like Full Hex.

Penrose Slitherlink Puzzles

Penrose SlitherlinkAt KrazyDad you can not only find plenty of Slitherlink puzzles but also Penrose Slitherlink puzzles using the quasi-periodic 5-fold tiling discovered by Sir Roger Penrose. Each booklet contains six big Slitherlink puzzles in pdf format, with the answers in the back.

There are already 100 booklets, each with six Penrose Slitherlink puzzles, in easy printable pdf format available. Each book contains an assortment of difficulties, starting with two easy puzzles, then two intermediate, followed by two tough puzzles.

The rules summarized:
1. Fill in some of the dotted line segments to form a meandering path that forms one single loop.
2. The single loop of lines is to be formed, without crossings or branches.
3. A number in a cell indicates how many lines that must surround the cell, while empty cells can be surrounded by any number of lines.

Thanks to KrazyDad for bringing a nice variant to Slitherlink, one of my favorite puzzles !!!

Play Online Color Sudoku

Online Color SudokuAlmost one year ago I wrote about Color Sudoku for your Mac already. From now on you can also play Online Color Sudoku. As the name already makes clear, color Sudoku is a variant of Sudoku with colors in stead of the regular figures from 1 to 9.

At the website you will find several color Sudoku's. Some students of HGK Luzern (Lucerne University of applied science and arts) designed new color combinations in a daily color Sudoku workshop. There are solutions for people with color perception problems. You can pick a color Sudoku with your favorite colors.

I love to play Color Sudoku online, only with the color white I have some problems as this color is hard to recognize compared with the empty cells which are also white. Happy color puzzling !

Lexoku - Word Sudoku's

LexokuVia a Pluto Puzzles you can now play Lexoku, which is a kind of Sudoku mixed with a crossword puzzle.

In Lexoku, Sudoku's are mixed with crossword puzzles because in a crossword, new words crop up all the time. You might see a word like 'oligarchy' and think, what a cool word, I should try and use that in next week's presentation to the board of directors. Sudoku offers none of that. Once you've done a few, it dawns on you that you're putting the same numbers in a grid over and over again, just in a different order.

This is where Lexoku comes in. In a Lexoku puzzle you are given a 6x6 grid — six rows, six columns and six 2x3 blocks and eighteen words of six letter. The object is to fill the grid by sticking to three simple rules:
1. Every row must contain all the letters of one of the words
2. Every column must contain all the letters of one of the words
3. Every 2x3 block must contain all the letters of one of the words.

All 18 of the words are used once in the grid.

I really like the combination of Lexoku and it adds a new dimension to the normal Sudoky puzzles. Enjoy!

Launchball Flash Puzzle Game

LaunchballLaunchball is a new physics-based puzzle game designed for the Science Museum in London. Launchball is a fabulously produced take on the 'guide something to the goal' family of physics games.

For each of the thirty levels, you are given a limited set of movable blocks. The existing blocks on the level are immobile. Drag and drop blocks from your inventory at the bottom of the screen onto the level to place them. Besides the standard ramps and springs, there are many different types of blocks available to solve the puzzle of each level. There are for example fans and electromagnet blocks to help to get your ball moving. However, these require electricity, which may come from a number of different sources, including battery power, wind power, solar power, and geothermal power. And of course, the electricity has to get to these devices somehow.

Launchball is just one big science puzzle which keep you busy for a while. After you solved all thirty levels you can also start to design and share your own science puzzles. Enjoy Launchball !

Anti-Tetris - Flash Puzzle Game

Anti-TetrisVia 9Mine I found an interesting puzzle game called Anti-Tetris. This Flash puzzle game is an interesting twist to the traditional Tetris game. Instead of trying to eliminate blocks of same color, the goal is to keep the blocks from being eliminated.

The goal of Anti-Tetris is to use the blocks to fill up the space below the red line. Unlike the regular Tetris game you try to eliminate the blocks in this game, you try to keep them from being eliminated.

In any row or columns blocks of the same color are connected to two other blocks of the same color on the two ends (different from the middle block(s) color), these blocks are eliminated. The blocks above fall down automatically. Once the space below the red line are filled up, you win .

This is more difficult than it sounds. Happy Puzzling!

Quarda Flash Puzzle Game

QuardaQuarda is a small but lovely Flash Puzzle Game, designed and produced by Nick Kouvaris from the Lightforce website.

Object of Quarda is to assemble all small squares of the same color in vertical lines (columns). Do that by rotating squares inside the with white lines marked box in clockwise or counterclockwise direction. Use keyboard arrow keys to move box, 'Z' and 'X' keys to rotate. Make five columns to win, click arrows to select level anytime. Click on 'shuffle' to shuffle all colored squares in a new random pattern.

In Quarda the term rows should be read as columns this to avoid any misunderstanding. There are just four levels to solve, the first level starts with just two colors, level two has three colors and level three and four each have five colors. Happy puzzling!

Umbrosia Puzzle Game Online

Numbrosia PuzzleA few weeks ago I already blogged about a new Number Puzzle Game Numbrosia for your Facebook account. I also mentioned that it would be great to have Numbrosia as an online puzzle game for everybody.

To my surprise I received two weeks later an email from the developer Amir to tell that puzzle game Numbrosia is online and can be played by everybody without any registration.

In short Numbrosia is a number/slider puzzle hybrid. Object of Numbrosia is to turn all the numbers in the grid into zeros in as less as possible number of moves. You will be rewarded for using fewer moves than other players. By the different possibilities you have you can change the numbers on the grid:
- add one to or subtract one from a row
- add one to or subtract one from a column
- rotate a row left or right
- rotate a column up or down

Next to the numbers shown, each cell is also colored. From dark blue (negative numbers), lighter blue, white (zero), light red and dark red (positive numbers). This gives you in one blink the 'feeling' how you are doing.

For the people who love Numbrosia they can now play more than one hundred levels of this great puzzle game called Numbrosia... thanks again to Amir! Happy number puzzling.

Pieceless Puzzle

Pieceless PuzzleToy Manufacturer created a new type of puzzle called the Pieceless Puzzle. The Pieceless puzzle itself is in one piece, but taken apart, it is one continuous long piece. The Pieceless Puzzle is actually one long strand of wiggly 'branches' that never separates. As you lay the Pieceless Puzzle out on a stable surface, you will see how the branches interlock. The challenge is to figure out how they all fit together.

An infomercial of the Pieceless Puzzle is available via Youtube.

The Pieceless Puzzle is available via Amazon.com

Bomb Chain Flash Puzzle Game

Bomb ChainBomb Chain is a little Flash puzzle Game I found at ArcadeBomb.com.

Object of Bomb Chain is to blow up all the bombs on the game board by creating the perfect chain reaction of bombs.

Bomb Chain controls are simple: Use your mouse to drag and drop the bombs onto the game board, you can also drop bombs onto each other to 'combine' them in bigger type bombs.

The game keeps high scores and best times, and saves your progress automatically.
There are over 40 levels of unique puzzles to solve. They start rather easy but after a vew levels, but then the real puzzling starts. Happy puzzling!
