Bunch - Flash Puzzle Game

Bunch - Flash Puzzle GameBunch is a nice Flash puzzle game by DevLabs Ltd.

The basic idea of Bunch is to create bunches of balls of the same color. This can be achieved by swapping adjacent balls with each other (horizontal or vertical only). The bigger the bunch the more points that a bunch is worth. However not every ball can be swapped with the one next to it. A valid swap is achieved when at least one of the two swapped balls have a ball of the same color next to it in its new position. Happy Puzzling !

Migration - Flash maze puzzle game

Migration - Flash maze puzzle gameVia Puzzlinks I found a nice version of a maze puzzle game. The combination between the maze and the real life is in my opinion very thought through.

The object of Migration is to move a gnu to an oasis across a field of varied terrain. Gnus can only move to a zone of the appropriate season, as denoted by sky color. Seasons go Spring (green) -> Summer (yellow) -> Autumn (red) -> Winter (blue) -> Spring. Each time the gnu moves, the season progresses.

In the beginning it’s a simple maze but it gets a bit more challenging at the 10th level when you have to control more than one gnu. Now you can move either gnu as you choose and moving either will advance the season for both. Click on a zone to move an adjacent gnu there. Click on a gnu to give it movement priority. Gnus can only move to a zone of the appropriate season, as denoted by sky color. Seasons go Spring (green) -> Summer (yellow) -> Autumn (red) -> Winter (blue) -> Spring. The level is beaten when one gnu is on each oasis. Arrows change level. U-turn arrow undoes last movement. Circular arrow restarts. Happy Puzzling

Bomboozle - Flash Puzzle Game

BomBoozle Flash Puzzle GameAt the end of last year I wrote about Perplex and suggested the designer of Perplex to make an online version in Flash as it is much more accessible. Today I recieved an email from Mike the Perplex designer that he made a Flash version of Perplex, this time the puzzle game is called Bomboozle.

BomBoozle game play is the same as in Perplex. Find a group of three or more blobs of the same color and draw (a line with the pencil) connecting them by clicking and dragging with the mouse. Then let the mouse button go (or click again) to make the selected blobs explode and those above drop down. Groups of six or more blobs are rewarded with a bomb (click on it for maximum carnage). The multi colored wildcard blobs will match any color, so use them wisely. The game will end when there are no more groups or bombs on the game board. So plan each move with care. You can play BomBoozle in three different game modes: Infinite, Timed and Skull.

Thanks to David for turning my request into reality. Happy Puzzling !!

KenKen Puzzles (Sudoku Variant)

KenKen PuzzlesKenKen Puzzles are created by Japanese educator Tetsuya Miyamoto set to be the successor to Sudoku.

KenKen puzzles can be solved by combining the four main mathematical functions of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. To train the brain the puzzles are offered without any instruction. There are important keys to be found but no fixed starting place and no method of progression that can be learnt as a strategy. The brain is forced to dart between competing theories. It's impossible to solve KenKen puzzles without the scientific process of trial and error and that's the rational behind KenKen puzzles.

More information about KenKen puzzles (including KenKen puzzles) can be found TimesOnline.co.uk. KenKen is a trademark of Nextoy, LLC. Happy Puzzling !

Championship version of 'Blokus'

Blokus Portable: Steambot Championship"Blokus Portable: Steambot Championship" is an electronic version of the four-player board game and its two-player travel edition for Sony's PSP.

Two to four players take turns laying down odd-shaped pieces on a grid. The object is to lay down as many pieces as possible before running out of room to place any more. Pieces can be placed only if they match corners with a like-colored piece and don't touch it otherwise, and if they don't overlap any other pieces.

The "Steambot Championship" element comes from the cast of player and computer characters, which are taken from the action-RPG "Steambot Chronicles." The Steambot crowd hangs around the Lobster Inn, a place that seems to serve no purpose other than hosting a variety of Blokus matches. [via dailypress].

The original Blokus Classics Game is available via Amazon.com. Happy Puzzling!

Vexed - Puzzle Game

Vexed - Puzzle GameAfter playing PuzzoBombs I went loooking for more of this kind of block moving puzzle games. Finally I ended up with a puzzle game called Vexed at the Janko website.

Object is to move blocks from the same color together (with same letter - for people who suffer from color blindness) so they disappear. You can move block only to the left or right (you can't move blocks up or down, they only fall down when there is an open space below them. But be aware no single block can be left behind.

Although the website is in German you can just select one of the 14 different kind of games of Vexed to select (original levels form James A. McCombe and levels sorted on difficulty). In total there are 838 (!) levels to solve. Enjoy Vexed.

Tilted Twister - a Lego Mindstorms Rubik's Cube Robot

Tilted TwisterThe most famous and 'best looking' Rubik's Cube solver is still Rubot II, but there is a now a new very good looking Rubik's Cube robot called Tilted Twister. It's completely made of Lego (of course using Lego Mindstorms NXT) and is great to look at due to its simplicity. I think almost a minimum of Lego bricks are used.

Tilted Twister this has been designed by Hans Andersson. At YouTube you can find a video of Tilted Twister showing how the robot scans the colors of each side first. Later it calculates the solution and finally it executes it. The best thing of Tilted Twister, is that his designer has created a Tilted Twister website with all the information with the Lego building instructions, as well as with the program for Lego Mindstorms NXT, so you can build your own Tilted Twister. Puzzobomb - Puzznix with Bombs

PuzzobombPuzzobomb is a remake of the original block moving game Puzznix and PC puzzle game Brix. Thanks to Jayenkai who made this all work for the PC.

Jay has managed to grab all the levels from the Amstrad CPC game "Puzznix" and the PC game "Brix". The, now much bigger, game includes 72 of Fraggle's Puzznix levels, 112 of Michael Riedel’s Brix levels, and a pitiful 18 of Jay himself.

Object is to move blocks from the same color together (with same symbol - for people who suffer from color blindness) so they disappear. But be aware no single block can be left behind.

As often the original is most of the time the best and even though Puzzobomb looks basic, this is all you need to enjoy a lovely puzzle game. Happy Puzzling!

Story: In the third space station "Tokio", where 2000 employees work, you are probably a cook of Spanish restaurant "Casablanca". You are working on the night shift, but fell asleep, woke up and where locked in (reminds me a bit of a movie about a cook [Steven Segal] trapped on navy ship). Your object is (of course) to escape.
