If you like Sudoku and/or Kakuro puzzles you will probably also like CALKuro.

The original name of this puzzle is Kenken but this online version is called CALkuro and is a combination between Sudoku and Kakuro. A CALkuro grid is made up of different colored Sets, each consisting of one or more Cells. To solve the puzzle, the correct number must be placed in each of the Cells according to the following rules:
- Fill in the Cells without repeating a number in any row or column.
- A number may be repeated in a Set, but not in a row or column.
- For a 4x4 puzzle use the numbers 1-4, for a 6x6 puzzle use the numbers 1-6 and so on.
- The numbers in each Set (set of heavily-outlined same-coloured cells) must combine to equal the number in the top corner using the arithmetic sign in the top corner.
- Sets with just one cell can be filled in straight away with the number in the top corner.
- Enter option numbers at the bottom of each cell.

Maze Stopper 3 is an interesting maze puzzle game with some Sokoban effects.

Scrabulizer is an online version to obtain the best scores with Hasbro's world famous board game Scrabble.

Scrabulizer is a scrabble solver which will give all the moves that a player can make during their turn in a Scrabble game. The solver will use tiles from the rack, incorporated into the tiles from the board, to form allowed Scrabble moves.

By default, the scoring uses the Scrabble board point bonuses for using letter and word multiplier squares, and a 50 point bonus (bingo) for using all of the rack tiles. The board point bonuses, letter scores and bingo's can can be customized. The rack length can also be increased to eight, in which case, by default, a 40 point bonus is awarded for using seven tiles and the 50 point bonus is awarded for using all eight tiles. Since I discovered a new Sudoku variant called Windoku I went looking for some online Windoku puzzles to solve.

The two best I found are:
- Windoku by YouPlay where you can play every day five levels (from easy to extreme) Windoku's, and
- Daily Windoku, where can solve one Windoku every day.

The rules for solvinh a Windoku, every number from 1 to 9 must appear in:
- Each of the nine vertical columns
- Each of the nine horizontal rows
- Each of the nine 3 x 3 boxes
- Each of the four 3 x 3 window panes

Via Geoff Canyon’s Appeal to Authority weblog I found an interesting Slitherlink variant.

The trick for this Slitherlink variant is that all the numbers are outside the loop; none are inside. As with all good puzzles of this type, there is only one valid solution.

This years World Rubik's Cube Championship 2009 was the 5th World Championship and took place on October 9/10/11, 2009 in Düsseldorf, Germany.

Civiballs 2 is the sequal to easy but brain teasing physics puzzle game Civiballs.

John sent me last week an e-mail about a (for me) new type of Sudoku Puzzle which is published in the paper version of The International Herald Tribune.

Next to the nine grids in normal Sudoku puzzles this Sudoku variant has four extra grids which are shaded. Each of the nine grids and the four shaded grids must contain the numbers 1-9.

For now I will call this Sudoku variant 'IHT Sudoku', but looking for the original name. And I am also looking for information on where to find more of this Sudoku variant, as on the IHT website the Sudoku puzzle is the standard one on the New York times site. Thanks for helping and ... As announced a few days ago Dutch supermarket AH tried to complete the world's largest jigsaw puzzle.

On October 7th 2009, Dutch supermarket Albert Heijn (part of major international supermarket operator Ahold) completed the world largest jigsaw puzzles.

Clients of almost 600 Albert Heijn supermarkets completed 4800 parts with each 252 jigsaw pieces of the world's largest jigsaw puzzle and completed the final jigsaw puzzle in the Olympic Stadium of Amsterdam.

On the picture are professional footballers of all current Dutch premier league teams in action in the original outfit from the fifties. Ajax player Urby Emanuelson has helped to complete the last pieces of the world's largest jigsaw puzzle.

Albert Heijn's jigsaw puzzle consists of 1,209,466 jigsaw pieces (size approx 809 square meters ~ 8708 square feet). Information about this World Record via AH.nl (in Dutch Only) and pictures of the new world record for jigsaw puzzles in Amsterdam's Olympic Stadium.

Last year the largest puzzle maker of Europe, Ravensburger, has celebrated its 125th anniversary with a remarkable stunt. Almost 15,000 enthusiastic puzzle fans completed a puzzle of 1,141,800 pieces in the German town Ravensburg.

This week (October 7th) Dutch supermarket Albert Heijn (part of major international supermarket operator Ahold) will go for a new World Record for Jigsaw Puzzles.

Clients of almost 600 Albert Heijn supermarkets completed parts of upcoming world's largest jigsaw puzzle which will be completed in the Olympic Stadium of Amsterdam.

Numbers To 1 is an easy to learn addictive math puzzle game for the iPhone. Numbers To 1 is invented by Sander de Boer by using a small piece of paper and 16 dices.

The goal of this iPhone math puzzle game is to bring all the numbers to 1 and -in the process- get them to their original position, including the gap which lives at the bottom right position. This is important because it may be possible to have all ones but the gap at the wrong position. In such a case you can verify that some numbers are also "lost" by turning on colors. If you had colors on all the time you already noticed it of course.
