Green Pieces - Earth Friendly Jigsaw Puzzles

TDC Games, a well-known maker of board games and unusual jigsaw puzzles, just released Green Pieces. Earth Friendly Jigsaw Puzzles is a series of four 500 piece jigsaw puzzles that have been laminated with a special paper that contains the seeds of various wildflower species.

"Planting the pieces will actually grow flowers," says Larry Balsamo, president of TDC Games. "They take a while, but if you water them regularly, they will look pretty and also reduce your carbon footprint."

Aside from having the capability of growing everything from Evening Primrose to Spurred Snapdragons, Green Pieces also feature puzzle images with unique ecological themes. 'Ameri-Cans' features an American Eagle that is composed of over 3,500 aluminum cans... or the same amount that is discarded in the U.S.A. every single second. 'I Need a Hug' is an image of a Panda made from 2,000 smaller pictures of logging operations. The puzzle points out that there are less than 2,000 Pandas left in the world largely because of deforestation of their natural habitat.

"We wanted to create the greenest products possible," said Balsamo. "Using the flowers as a carbon offset has been a unique way to accomplish that goal… and plant the seeds of environmental awareness... so to speak."

All four of the Green Pieces Jigsaw Puzzles are available at Amazon.com and at toy, gift, book and department stores nationwide at a suggested retail price of $15.99

Zelli Bookcase is just another puzzling piece of furniture by DesignBoom.

Zelli designer's own words: Zelli is a bookcase that takes the graphic system of a structure made of zellige (Moroccan mosaic). Zellige making is considered an art in itself. The art is transmitted from generation to generation by maâlems (master craftsmen). A long training starts at childhood in order to master exceptional skills. Assiduous attention to detail is very important in the process of creating Zellige works. The small shaped (cut according to a precise radius gauge), painted and enamel covered squares are then assembled together in a geometrical structure as in puzzle to form the final single piece. The process has not varied for one millennium.

The Zelli Bookcase is a new and innovative way of using those traditional geometric motifs. The traditional shape provides plenty of surfaces that can be used functionally as shelves. Meanwhile, its industrial design offers a simplified assembly process that helps save space when transporting or storing the bookcase.

Originaly Cost Cutter is designed in a way that nobody can see that you're playing a puzzle game. In fact, your boss and colleagues will think that you're working harder than ever before.

Game story : In times like these everyone is always telling you to keep the costs down. And that's just the challenge in this game. Just click on START WORKING. The game will open in what appears to be a spreadsheet program. Click combinations of two or more blocks with the same color out of the chart. If the data reaches the end of the chart, it will fall off and you’re game over. In your menu bar you’ll find your score and level.

If your boss approaches, you can hit the spacebar; the game pauses and all the game elements will disappear from the program. When he’s gone hit it again and the game will continue.

Keep the data as low as possible and your points will sky rocket.

If you've been looking for a way to tease your brain into an overloaded, catatonic state while on the go, Nintendo and HAL Laboratory will soon deliver an application that should aid in your endeavor. Picross 3D, the DS puzzle game that hit Japanese retail last March, will be released on May 3 in North America.

The announcement came during the Nintendo Media Summit and added that the game would receive DLC in the form of extra puzzles, à la Professor Layton. With continued support like that, Picross 3D could be capable of frying our brains for the foreseeable future. [via Joystiq]

Record Tripping has derived their novelty from putting a new spin on conventional mechanics, that is you're still clicking mouses and pressing buttons, just in a different arrangement. Record Tripping cleverly realizes there's another tool at our disposal these days: the scroll wheel.

Click on the mouse and drag it from one yellow point to another in order to connect the lines. The purple point indicates the position from which you should continue the structure.
