The Big 30 puzzle is a bit special for me as it represents my recent entry into the 30′s. I first saw it when I was choosing puzzles from PuzzleMaster and immediately caught my attention, since I was very close to celebrate my 30th birthday. It was designed by Allan Stein and it was his exchange puzzle at IPP 30 in 2010.
As the name suggests, the puzzle is comprised of two main pieces in the shape of a 3 and a 0, and a string with a bead at the end. The string can’t be moved [Read More...]
Go Round is a point scoring puzzle app. You must score enough points to move to the next level.
This is a difficult game to describe. The object is to make groups of 3 on the concentric rings. 3 matching colors on the outer ring will shoot inward to become 1 on the next inner ring.
You can have a chain reaction. But I’m not sure about the exact point scoring system. This much I know: promoting a color from the outermost ring to the innermost will yield a lot of points. I have not figured out [Read More...]
The Panic Attack is a very attractive entanglement puzzle. It is very sturdy and will withstand a lot of use. The metal is a heavy stainless steel wire and won’t bend unless an unusual, and unnecessary force, is applied, The gold ring that entwines the heart is made of strong nylon, and will also stand up to a lot of use. It’s a little confusing to find the Triangle Pyramid puzzle on Amazon. There are at least three of them. You will also find it listed as Triangle Pyramid Wooden Brain Teaser. They are all alike as far as I can tell; they go by different names, made by different manufacturers. You will find it made by Brilliant Puzzles, Monkey Pod Games, Winshare Puzzles & Games. etc. Mine was made by Siam Mandalay. Mine has a tray to hold it as well as a triangle that fits half way down the pyramid; just as the picture shows. [Read More...]
This is the Impossiburr puzzle from Oskar van Deventer. Oskar has been making puzzles at Shapeways shop for quite awhile and keeps coming out with great designs all the time. I am reminded of M.C. Escher when I see this puzzle as the sides look like they shouldn’t be joined together. I really had to use my dexterity to get this one back to its original form. Here Oskar is explaining a little about it, giving us a tease [Read More...]
