Gigaminx – Mind Boggling Puzzle

Gigaminx

Gigaminx is a 12 sided mind boggling rotational puzzle.

If you are thinking that 5x5x5 or the 6x6x6 Rubik’s Cube is easy, why not give Gigaminx a try. Not as hard as the Tetraminx puzzle but still very challenging. Gigaminx comes with an extra set of stickers.

Buy Gigaminx from PuzzleMaster.ca. Happy Puzzling!

Update: Buy V-Cube 6 Multicolor at Amazon.

Make Your Own Cuboid From A Rubik’s Cube

Modified-rubiks-cube

Via Instructables.com I found a simple tutorial to make your own Cuboid from a Rubik’s Cube, which changes the shape when you scramble it.

The cuboid is easy to make, because you don’t have to extend any pieces and can easily shoved it into your pocket because it is a lot thinner than the original cube. Happy Puzzling!

Tetris-Bot a Tetris Playing Lego Robot

Tetris-bot

Tetris-Bot is a Tetris-playing Lego robot by Branislav Kisacanin and made Tetris -Bot in order to engage his kids in a fun and educational project.

Tetris-Bot consists of a camera, a TI DM6437 DSP board (running my embedded vision and artificial intelligence algorithms), and a three-finger LEGO Mindstorms NXT robotic hand (that presses the keys on the computer keyboard).

Branislav Kisacanin was inspired by the Lego NXT Rubik’s Cube Solver and Lego Sudoku solvers and the Segway-like NXT robots. Unlike [Read More...]

Android Powered Lego Rubik’s Cube Solver

Lego-rubiks-cube-solver

This is yet another Lego Rubik’s Cube solver, designed and programmed using an ARM Powered Android Motorola Droid smart phone, a LEGO Mindstorms NXT and lots of yellow LEGO Technic pieces.

The Android App running on the Droid mobile phone uses the phones camera to take pictures of each face of the cube and sends the solution to the LEGO NXT controller via Bluetooth and is able to solve Rubik’s Cube in just 24 seconds. [via [Read More...]

eBoy’s Pixelated Design Genius – iPhone Puzzle Game

Eboy-fixpix-iphone-puzzle

Pixelated wonderland indeed! After their propagation of their 3-D world on 2-D mediums, eBoy (no affiliation with eBay) finally found the ideal canvas – Apple iPhone. Worked in conjunction with app designer Delicious Toys, the eBoy FixPix is not just a simple App Game.

With gentlest tilt, players put back together a intricate 3-D puzzle. Complexity increase as more 3 dimensional layers juxtaposed on one another. Think of it as a contemporary Rubik’s Cube, where dexterity and visual perception really comes into play.

Soon to be available in the iTune App Store. [via FreshnessMag]. Happy Puzzling!

Puzzle Cube aka Void Cube

Void-cube_puzzle-cube

Puzzle Cube (aka Void Cube) from Lanlantoys is the latest addition to my puzzle collection and was invented by Katsuhiko Okamoto.

Void Cube is a 3D mechanical puzzle similar to a Rubik’s Cube, with the notable difference being that the center cubes are missing. The three central axes used on the Rubik’s Cube are also absent, creating holes straight through the cube on all three axes. Due to the restricted volume of the puzzle it employs an entirely different structural mechanism from a regular Rubik’s Cube. Happy Puzzling!

Rubik’s Cube For The Blind

Rubik-cube-blind

Via JankoDesign I found yet another Color Rubik Cube For The Blind designed by Konstantin Datz.

The last Rubik Cube on Yanko Design called Touch and Feel Rubik’s Cube has textures as tease for the visually challenged; this current iteration uses only Braille (there is also Braille Sudoku).

Colors embossed include green, blue, red, yellow, white & pink. One of the more sensible concepts in a long time that hopefully will delight the sighted folks too. Happy Puzzling!
