I find this racing caterpillar illusion super cute. This is one of the most terrific tricky graphics that I have seen 0n the Internet. This art piece could be used to study visual perception. I was surprised to find that when I stared at the caterpillars, they appeared to be crawling slowly across my screen.

About the Caterpillar Race

Caterpillar Race is yet another unique and brain twisting graphic art from Kaia Nao.  This artwork tries to convey the limits of our capability to recognize visual material. Kaia Nao’s work challenges the spectator to become more perceptive when looking at a picture. Kaia created this design consisting of ten colorful caterpillars in such a way that they appear to be moving forward.  This optical illusion demonstrates how color patterns and position can deceive our brain.

About the Artist

The artistic training of Kaia Nao (also known as Joe Hautman) is in the field of realistic painting. The methods of realism have been developed by artists over many years. Many of these techniques are fundamental visual deceptions.

Thank you Kaia Nao for allowing us to post and share your Caterpillar Race optical illusion. If you wish to check out more of his interesting paintings, you can go and visit his website.
