I was totally delighted to see the effects of moving closer and further from the screen while looking at this illusion. I find this work intriguing. As I moved closer to the screen, the white portion of the picture seems to expand outward.

About the Contrast 2

This Contrast 2 optical illusion by Alan Stubbs features a dynamic luminance.  A variation in apparent illumination happens if a person moves closer and further from the screen. I have learned that the effect is stronger on the computer screen, but it also works with printed versions.
