I just love this impossible image of Pillar. At first glance, the object appears viable, but upon closer inspection, you realize it is an impossibility. This is a very clever impossible figure by Andreas.
About the Pillar
I have learned that this is a beautiful recreation of Triple Tribar triangle by Andreas. He was unsuccessful with his first try, but he persistently tried until he was able to reconstruct it. This impossible figure can definitely puzzle the viewer’s mind. A variation of prompts are used in order to create a three-dimensional representation of the Pillar. This is comprised of height-in-the-field, linear perspective, shading and atmospheric perspective. Andreas has utilized pictorial rules in this figure to make the illusion of three dimensions, but then he breaks some of these rules to make the object impossible.
