1 2 3

1 2 3

1 2 3. A strange name for a puzzle, right? Apparently, not only Jean Claude Constantin‘s puzzles are very original, but their names are quite unconventional sometimes. Well, the name is not random. It actually has a pretty good reason to be simply called “1 2 3″. Read on. 1 2 3 can be described as a hidden maze with movable parts, or a dynamic maze. There’s a steel ball inside and your task is to guide it through the exit. Easier said than done, since you can’t really see what’s going on inside. The puzzle is made from several [Read More...]

Scribbles

Scribbles Level 1

Scribbles is a very interesting game with great sounds and graphics. The puzzle solver needs to draw lines in order to successfully put the scribbles inside the box. It is like the Scribbles need to be home and you need to draw a path that will make them reach their comfy jar.

There could be many different kinds of obstacles for each level. The player will need to smartly use his resources. The player can use a pencil, eraser and there is only limited ink to use for drawing lines. The puzzle solver needs to have more [Read More...]

Who’s the Boss?

Who's the Boss

Siebenstein-Spiele is fast becoming one of the best puzzle manufacturers out there. Their puzzles always have something fresh in their designs. You might have seen similar concepts before, whether they’re slide piece puzzles, packing puzzles or even interlocking puzzles, but their approach to visual appealing designs is their strong suit. To my knowledge, all of the Siebenstein-Spiele mechanical puzzles are designed by Jürgen Reiche. Note that the company also publishes interesting board games, but even those are also designed by Jürgen, with the exception of maybe a couple of them. Also, judging by the number of new puzzles I keep seeing [Read More...]

The Big, Big, Big Book of Brainteasers Paperback

big

I have been interested in puzzles of all kinds since a youth, over 60 years ago. I have hundreds of puzzles and over 600 books of puzzles and Mathematical Recreations. I just obtained The Big, Big, Big Book of Brainteasers a couple of weeks ago, and even though I haven’t done all the puzzles–yet; I have no hesitation in saying that it is one of the best I’ve ever seen. What makes a puzzle book stand out above the plethora of those that have been published is that it should have a wide variety of puzzles, and there should [Read More...]

Cyclone Puzzle

cyclone

This ball might not suggest that it is a puzzle unless someone told you it was. It claims to be fairly difficult at 8 out of 10.  Cyclone Puzzle consists of 30, identically shaped pieces. Each piece has 2 straight sides and 2 curved sides, opposite to one another, On each corner is a “hook”. The pieces are made of thin, fairly flexible plastic. It is simple to take apart, starting at any point where the pieces are “hooked” together. Putting it together is a little harder, but it is quite obvious once you get started. There [Read More...]
